01
When the receipt comes out blank
Direct thermal paper normally prints on one coated side. If the roll is loaded backwards, the heated print head may contact the uncoated side and produce a blank receipt. Reload the roll using the diagram inside the printer or the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Confirm that thermal paper is installed
- Reverse the roll only if the manual supports that loading path
- Test with the printer’s built-in self-test where available
02
When the print looks too light
Light output can result from unsuitable paper, incorrect printer settings, contamination on the print head or a maintenance issue. Use paper that matches the printer specification and follow the approved cleaning process. Do not scrape the print head or apply an unapproved solvent.
- Try a known compatible roll
- Check density or darkness settings
- Use only manufacturer-approved cleaning materials
03
When paper feeds crooked or jams
Check that the roll width and diameter fit the compartment, the roll is seated evenly, and no torn paper remains in the path. A crushed roll edge or overtight compartment can cause uneven feeding. Turn off and unplug equipment first when the manual requires it.
- Remove loose scraps without sharp tools
- Make sure the cover closes without force
- Replace dented or damp rolls
04
When to stop troubleshooting
If the error continues after loading compatible paper and completing the approved checks, record the printer model and error message and contact the equipment supplier or service technician. Repeatedly forcing the cutter, cover or feed mechanism can turn a small issue into physical damage.
- Note the exact model and error code
- Keep a sample of the faulty print
- Use qualified service support for mechanical faults
