01
Choose a stable storage area
Keep unopened rolls indoors in a clean area with moderate conditions. Avoid windows, heaters, hot storerooms and damp floors. Do not leave reserve stock inside parked vehicles or next to kitchen equipment, where heat can build up quickly.
- Use shelving above floor level
- Keep boxes away from direct sunlight
- Avoid areas with frequent heat or humidity changes
02
Protect the thermal coating
Oils, solvents, adhesives and some plastics can affect thermal coatings or printed images. Leave rolls in their original packaging until needed and handle them with clean, dry hands. Keep cleaning products and lubricants away from paper stock.
- Retain protective wrapping
- Separate paper from chemicals and oils
- Avoid crushing or denting the roll edges
03
Rotate inventory sensibly
Mark cartons with their arrival date and use older suitable stock first. This simple first-in, first-out routine reduces forgotten boxes and makes it easier to investigate a quality issue by batch. Keep sizes clearly labelled so similar-looking rolls are not mixed.
- Date cartons when they arrive
- Use older stock before newer stock
- Store each roll size in a labelled location
04
File important printed receipts carefully
For receipts that must remain readable, store them flat in a dark, dry place and avoid prolonged contact with heat, sunlight, oils, tape adhesive or plasticisers. If a record is operationally or legally important, follow the retention rules for your business and consider a digital scan or approved electronic record.
- Keep originals away from bright light
- Do not laminate unless the process is confirmed safe
- Digitise important records according to policy
